Step 9: Place the first COREtec vinyl plank (the board which you cut before) exactly where you marked the subfloor. The cut side of the plank should be facing the wall. Use quarter inch spacers to maintain the expansion gap. Step 10: Take the second COREtec vinyl plank and hold its short end at a 35-degree angle against the first plank’s end. Allow the plank to click into place beside the first one. Follow this method to set all the planks in this row. Step 11: When you start the next row, maintain the expansion gap, and stagger the joints by 6 inches. Staggered joints can prevent the formation of vulnerable joints and they also help to give the floor a smooth, uniform look. You accomplish the six-inch stagger by cutting the first board of each row to a different length. Step 12: For the second row, fit the tongue of the first plank of this row (the long edge this time) into the groove of the first plank of the previous row. Rotate the plank till it clicks into place. To install the next board in the second row, connect the short end and then the long end. Use your tapping block to gently secure each vinyl board. Repeat steps nine through 12 to install your COREtec vinyl plank flooring. If you have to install vinyl planks under door jambs, you’ll have to bend the boards slightly. Then use a pull bar to lock the joints. You can also use a tapping block to do this.
